St. Patrick’s Day in Los Angeles
O’ lucky are we to be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year on a Saturday! Personally, St. Patty’s Day is one of my favorite holidays but it’s always tricky trying to decide what to do when there are so many options. Here in Los Angeles there are tons festivals, parties, and events to choose from so I’ve plotted out a route to get the most out of your Celtic celebration. Here’s my idea for the best way to spend your St. Patrick’s Day in L.A.!
Start off down at South Bay for the annual Village Runner St. Patty’s Day 5K walk/run at Redondo Beach! The race starts at 8am, all finishers will receive a t-shirt, cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and feel less guilty when you drink all those green beers later at the pub! Visit Village Runner to register for the race. Hopefully, you’ll get the luck of the Irish and win first place!
Then head just a few minutes north to the Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade! This is the 23rd time Hermosa has held the parade and it all starts at 11am and marches down seven blocks on Pier Ave. Joining the parade this year will be horses, marching bands, floats, bagpipers from the Emerald Society, and some k9’s from the Irish Setters Club of Southern California!
Next, go inland to The Original Farmer’s Market on Fairfax and West 3rd street. By now, you’ve worked up an appetite for Irish food and drinks so the Farmer’s Market is the ideal place to find what you crave. Magee’s Kitchen is serving up traditional corned beef, cabbage, and parsley potatoes for only $13.75 a plate all day! Get your green beer E.B.’s Beer & Wine or Bar 326. Enjoy live music from Celtic Camerata, Glen the Bagpiper, Celtic Duo-Scarlet and Steve, and Stuart Marks & The Paddy O’dors Band. All the festivities start at 11am and continue til 9pm. You can also catch some of this action on our LA Highlights Tour!
If you still have room for more four leaf fun then jet over to the Sunset Strip where Rock and Reilly’s is hosting their 7th annual St. Patty’s Day Block Party! They’re going to sham-ROCK the block with food, games, DJ’s, and 100 kegs of green beer! This is a 21yo and up event, tickets cost $25, and lasts from 1-10pm.
