In this Barcelona cooking class, food is more than just a meal.

You’ll learn from a skilled local chef who is passionate about sharing authentic Catalan recipes and the stories behind them. You’ll also be helping support the mission of a local nonprofit that provides hands-on job training in the culinary arts.

With a chef guiding you through each step, you’ll prepare three classic dishes: fresh gazpacho, traditional Spanish paella (offered with meat or vegetarian), and a silky crema catalana to finish on a sweet note.

Along the way, you’ll pick up Spanish cooking tips you can take home, and you’ll get to work with seasonal, sustainable ingredients that reflect the kitchen’s slow-food philosophy. Kids can join in as well, and it’s a great opportunity to learn about Barcelona’s food culture.

More about Mescladís’ mission: All of this unfolds in the hands-on working kitchen at Mescladís, a Barcelona restaurant with heart. Mescladís helps open doors to careers in hospitality, providing essential training for marginalized communities, especially those from migrant and refugee backgrounds. By joining this class, you’re supporting a nonprofit working toward a more inclusive and sustainable future.

After cooking, sit down with your fellow travelers and enjoy the fruits of your labor, paired with the drink of your choice, such as wine, beer, juice, organic soda, or seltzer. It’s a chance to share community, soak up the atmosphere, and leave with more than just recipes — you’ll take home a taste of Barcelona’s heart and spirit.
