Here are some of the best Day Trips you can take right from Paris if you have time to spare:

  1. Disneyland Paris

Fancy a trip to see Mickey Mouse? Well, if you have a spare day in Paris you actually can! This is a perfect option for the whole family to enjoy. You can buy a 1 day ticket here.

  1. Versailles

The historic palace is an exciting short trip from Paris on the RER C. It’s hard to imagine that just outside the city limits there’s a gorgeous, golden palace surrounded by beautiful gardens that you can explore for the day, but it’s true at Versailles. Angelina even has a location here if you’re wanting to try their hot chocolate, as reviewed in our post.

  1. Monet’s garden in Giverny

Monet’s iconic garden and the actual creation site for his famous painting series on water lilies is reachable in the village of Giverny.  Impressionist painting is all about the great outdoors, so having the opportunity to take in the real beauty of what Monet saw and worked with on a daily basis is magical.

  1. Mont Saint-Michel

This is a sight from a fairy tale and an exciting opportunity to discover historic buildings with the towering impact of the abbey and its surroundings. Located off the coast in Normandy, this is a must-see option and easily reachable from Paris.

  1. Champagne region

Take a trip to the birthplace of champagne where current bottles, like Moet are sourced. Expect lots of tastings and a champagne information overload in this destination outside Paris.

  1. Bordeaux

This well-known city is a short train ride from Paris, though it’s not often cited as a possible day trip. Bordeaux is a lovely town to be by the water in summer and take in the different vibes of the relaxed countryside, unlike the bustling atmosphere in Paris.

  1. London

This may be over-stepping, but I’ve seen it done. Get ready for a very full day trying to pack all your must-see London sights after your (approximately 2-hour) train ride from Gare du Nord. Again, this is an action-packed day and will take a lot of energy out of you, but if you have a longer stay in Paris it’s definitely an attainable day-trip if you’re dedicated. I recommend the Eurostar Snap, run by Eurostar, for cheap prices on Eurostar trains.

  1. Normandy

For history buffs who are highly interested in the landings of D Day and exploring the various historical sites, this day-trip is for you! For a full understanding of war events, you can visit sites, such as Omaha Beach, Colleville-sur-Mer’s American Military Century, and Arromanche’s artificial harbor.

  1. Chateau de Fontainebleu

Another way to experience what life was like for Marie Antoinette and other royals in France, in addition to Versailles? This day-trip makes it possible with the lavish opportunity to explore more the chateau, with more than 1500 rooms.

  1. Provins medieval city

The opportunity to wander around medieval streets in the Île-de-France region is here in Provins. You can find over 58 medieval sites and take it all in with your family in only a day.
