If you’re in Paris for any amount of time at all, you will need to try the hot chocolate. It’s utterly essential. Imagine a liquid happiness that warms your heart – that is hot chocolate in Paris.

Here is a list of the best hot chocolate experiences, from my experience (as an avid lover of chocolate with high standards):

  1. Angelina

This receives the number one spot for a reason. Not all hot chocolates are created equal. This 120-year-old traditional, beautiful, experience of a restaurant on Rue de Rivoli by the Louvre, is the granddaddy of molten chocolate mixture. You can stop into their shop for a quick to-go version if you’re in a rush. Just, trust me, go! Ask for “l’Africain,” and while you’re at it, a Mont-Blanc, which is a unique looking dessert. You’ll be happy you did.

  1. Jacques Genin

Where better to find hot chocolate than a master chocolatier? I mean, can it get any better than this? No! on 133 Rue de Turenne, you’ll find yourself sipping this goodness in their tearoom, as they don’t offer takeaway, and you’ll probably think you’ve gone to heaven.

  1. Carette

Yeah, honestly… What!? How do mortal humans create hot chocolate this velvety and rich? With whipped cream on the side? No, Stop! Also, this tearoom at 25 Place des Vosges, is right in the same historic square that Victor Hugo once lived in! Can’t get any more Parisian than this.

  1. Ladurée

Yes, yes, you came here for macarons, BUT you need to stop and smell the roses a little sometimes and treat yourself. Get the hot chocolate! That’s all I can really say on that. You can find Ladurée almost everywhere, even at the Louvre.

  1. Hoct et Loca

I’d say this is the most accessible, on-the-go, dedicated to hot chocolate experience in Paris that you’ll have. With five different continuous fountains of chocolate, from white to noisette and dark, you have so many options and can even order it as fondue.

Thank so much for reading my fellow chocolate obsessed lovelies!
